President of Turkmenistan Pays Tribute to Earthquake Victims and War Heroes

Ashgabat, October 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex in Ashgabat on Tuesday, paying tribute to the victims of the devastating 1948 Ashgabat earthquake and Turkmen citizens who lost their lives during the Great Patriotic War.

According to the Watan news programme, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov first laid a wreath at the Ruhy Tagzym monument, dedicated to the memory of those who perished in the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake.

The President subsequently laid wreaths at the Milletiň Ogullary and Baky Şöhrat monuments, which commemorate Turkmenistan’s citizens who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The solemn ceremony served as an occasion to honour the memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquake and in wartime, reaffirming the enduring remembrance of their sacrifice by the Turkmen people.
