Islamabad, July 14, 2024, The Europe Today: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reaffirmed its decision to host all matches of the 2025 Champions Trophy within Pakistan, Geo News reported on Sunday, citing well-informed sources.
The PCB maintains that, as the host nation, it has the right to stage the entire event domestically. This position will be formally communicated during the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) annual meeting in Colombo, scheduled from July 19 to 22.
This development comes amid speculation that the Indian cricket team might refuse to travel to Pakistan, preferring to play their matches at a neutral venue. Despite these rumors, the PCB is proceeding with preparations to host eight teams across three venues: Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. All of India’s matches are planned to take place in Lahore.
In anticipation of the event, the PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion for the upgrading of three major stadiums: Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena, and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium.

Should India refuse to travel for the Champions Trophy, the PCB has indicated that Pakistan will reciprocate by not participating in the 2026 T20 World Cup, which India will co-host with Sri Lanka.
The proposed dates for the Champions Trophy are from February 19 to March 9, 2025. This event marks the return of the Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus, with its last occurrence in 2017, when Pakistan triumphed over India in the final.
The PCB’s firm stance underscores its commitment to hosting international cricket at home and ensuring that Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure is showcased on the global stage.
