Chinese CPC Officials Commit to Advancing Modernization Through Comprehensive Reform

Beijing, July 20, 2024, The Europe Today: Senior Chinese CPC officials have pledged to vigorously advance Chinese modernization by rigorously pursuing reform initiatives based on the guiding principles established at the recent key plenum of the 20th Central Committee.

The third plenary session of the Central Committee, held in Beijing from Monday to Thursday, culminated in the adoption of a resolution aimed at further deepening reform comprehensively to propel Chinese modernization. This resolution outlines a strategic blueprint for the continued advancement of reform and modernization.

Xu Qin, Secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, emphasized the importance of studying and implementing the principles derived from the plenum. He remarked that the Party’s extensive experience in reform during the current era provides valuable guidance for future initiatives, underscoring the need for rigorous adherence to these principles.

Yuan Huazhi, Political Commissar of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, described the comprehensive reform as a groundbreaking systematic project. He stressed that maintaining the Party’s leadership and strengthening its core are crucial for ensuring the reform’s alignment with its intended objectives.

The plenum highlighted China’s commitment to its foundational policy of openness to the outside world. Zhang Gong, Mayor of Tianjin Municipality, underscored the pivotal role of reform and opening up in achieving steady progress in Chinese modernization. The plenum set forth requirements for coordinated reforms across institutions and mechanisms related to education, science and technology, and human resources, aimed at fostering all-encompassing innovation.

Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, acknowledged the relevance of the plenum’s requirements for Hunan, which is recognized as a hub for advanced manufacturing, technological innovation, and the opening up of China’s inland regions.

Wu Hansheng, head of the social work department of the CPC Central Committee, noted that the plenum’s plans include exploring effective methods to strengthen Party construction within new economic and social organizations and among emerging professional groups. He stressed the need for reform and innovation to enhance the Party’s appeal and influence in these new fields.

Regarding national defense and military modernization, Wang Wenquan, Political Commissar of the PLA Southern Theater Command, pledged to improve the armed forces’ preparedness and capabilities amid ongoing reforms. He emphasized the importance of balancing steadfastness and flexibility in operations while safeguarding China’s maritime and border security.

Zhao Yide, Secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, committed to advancing reform in the northwestern province, aiming to establish Shaanxi as a crucial base for China’s westward expansion, promote high-quality development, and enhance the public’s sense of fulfillment from ongoing reform efforts.
