Bangkok, August 15, 2024, The Europe Today: The Thai Ministry of Transport has extended an invitation to Japanese companies to invest in the expansion of the Red Line electric train system. Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit made the announcement on Wednesday following a meeting with Japan’s newly appointed ambassador to Thailand, Otaka Masato.
During their discussions, Minister Suriya and Ambassador Otaka focused on strengthening transport cooperation between Thailand and Japan, with particular emphasis on ongoing railway projects. The minister expressed Thailand’s interest in furthering these collaborations, particularly in the area of railway infrastructure.
The Ministry of Transport also requested Japan’s support in maintaining the Red Line suburban railway, highlighting the need for expertise from Japanese companies that specialize in advanced railway technology and effective maintenance practices.
This move is part of Thailand’s broader strategy to enhance its transportation network and bolster international cooperation in the sector. The involvement of Japanese firms is seen as a critical step in ensuring the long-term success and efficiency of the Red Line electric train system.
