Washington, D.C. November 7, 2024 – The Europe Today: President-elect Donald Trump has stated that he does not intend for his children to serve in his upcoming administration, emphasizing a need to protect his family from the pressures of political life. Trump, who previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021 and is set to return as the 47th president in 2025, made the remarks during a Fox News interview on Wednesday, following his victory over Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.
Reflecting on his family’s involvement in his previous administration, Trump shared, “I said, ‘that’s enough for the family!’ It’s too painful for the family; my family has been through hell.” During his first term, Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner were key advisors, often facing criticism for their influential roles. In 2022, as Trump launched his third presidential bid, Ivanka announced her decision to step back from politics to prioritize her family, stating she would support her father outside the political arena.
Trump’s remarks come as his family remains under legal scrutiny. Ivanka, along with her brothers Eric and Donald Jr., faces legal risks in connection with a civil suit filed by the New York attorney general related to the Trump family business. The Trump family also faced investigation over classified documents found at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in 2022.
Despite distancing his children from official roles, Trump noted last month that his youngest son, Barron, played a significant part in his campaign strategy. He also hinted at potential appointments for high-profile figures like Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., underscoring his intention to assemble a diverse and influential team for his administration.
