Jakarta, November 11, 2024 — The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s recent visit to the United States has ignited optimism among Indonesian citizens residing there. According to a press release from President Subianto’s media team, a group of Indonesian citizens gathered to welcome him at his hotel upon his arrival on Sunday afternoon at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.

The President’s visit to Washington, D.C., is part of an international tour that began with a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. In the U.S., Subianto is scheduled to hold discussions with President Joe Biden, focusing on key areas of bilateral interest.

Several Indonesian citizens expressed hopes for President Subianto’s leadership over the next five years. Bella, a student at Johns Hopkins University pursuing a master’s degree in Strategy, Cybersecurity, and Intelligence, voiced her aspirations for strengthened cybersecurity measures in Indonesia, a key area of focus given Subianto’s background in military and defense. “As I am in the field of cybersecurity too, and Mr. Prabowo came from a military and defense background, his focus is now on cybersecurity. With that, I hope Indonesia’s cybersecurity will improve,” Bella stated.

Muhammad Yusuf Atthariq Azof, a graduate student in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins, expressed joy at seeing President Prabowo’s safe arrival and shared his desire for an increased emphasis on Indonesian research. “I hope that Indonesian research personnel can be more advanced and more people want to continue their education at the research level,” he said.

President Subianto’s visit is anticipated to strengthen U.S.-Indonesia relations, particularly in the fields of defense, research, and cybersecurity, aligning with the aspirations of Indonesian citizens and students abroad.
