Addis Ababa, January 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: Ethiopia and Somalia have renewed their diplomatic relations during Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s official visit to Addis Ababa on Saturday.
President Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed jointly announced their agreement to restore and strengthen bilateral relations by reestablishing full diplomatic representation in their respective capitals.
Both leaders underscored the importance of regional stability, emphasizing that it can only be achieved through strong cooperation built on mutual trust, confidence, and respect.
This significant step follows the peace deal brokered just a month ago by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, marking a new chapter in the Horn of Africa’s diplomatic landscape.
