Kuwait City, February 18, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a significant meeting in Kuwait City with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Yahya. The discussions focused on fostering an active political dialogue and broadening the scope of trade, economic, investment, and financial cooperation between the two nations.
The leaders expressed deep satisfaction with the high-level decision to elevate Uzbekistan-Kuwait relations to a comprehensive partnership. This initiative aligns with the agreements reached during President Mirziyoyev’s historic visit to Kuwait, marking a pivotal moment in bilateral ties.
Particular emphasis was placed on organizing regular inter-ministerial consultations and jointly preparing for the upcoming “Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council” summit, scheduled to be held in Samarkand. Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination to ensure the success of this multilateral event.
Furthermore, the meeting acknowledged with satisfaction the signing of a new Cooperation Program with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. This agreement is expected to facilitate joint initiatives in crucial sectors such as food security, industrial cooperation, infrastructure development, and tourism.
A key aspect of the discussions was the advancement of direct air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Kuwait, which is anticipated to enhance trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening economic and diplomatic collaboration in the years ahead.
