Tehran, May 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid a courtesy call on His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Monday during his official visit to Tehran. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and key regional developments.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his deepest respect and admiration for the Supreme Leader, describing him as an iconic figure in the Muslim world whose leadership continues to inspire the Muslim Ummah. He noted that His Eminence’s guidance and patronage were a source of unity and strength for Muslims globally.
The Prime Minister briefed the Supreme Leader on the recent tensions between Pakistan and India, highlighting India’s hegemonic and revisionist ambitions, which he warned pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He expressed gratitude for Iran’s principled support and solidarity with Pakistan during these challenging times.
Underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, the Prime Minister stressed that stability and economic development in South Asia can only be achieved through dialogue and mutual respect. He apprised the Supreme Leader of ongoing initiatives to elevate Pakistan-Iran relations to the highest level, reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation with Iran amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
Prime Minister Sharif commended the Iranian leadership’s wisdom and prudence in engaging in nuclear negotiations with the United States. He expressed hope that a constructive and peaceful resolution would be reached, contributing to broader regional peace and security.
His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to foster regional peace and stability, acknowledging his leadership and vision in promoting stronger bilateral ties.
