Iran Launches Second Wave of Missile Strikes on Israel Amid Escalating Hostilities

Tehran, June 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: A second wave of Iranian missile strikes struck deep into Israeli territory late Friday night, with Israeli media reporting multiple explosions and widespread damage as tensions between the two countries escalated dramatically.

Missiles were reportedly launched from Tehran and Kermanshah in western Iran, targeting strategic sites across Israel. The renewed attacks followed Iran’s initial wave of retaliatory strikes, launched earlier in the evening in response to what it described as unprovoked Israeli aggression against locations inside Iran, including residential areas.

Dramatic footage circulating on Israeli social media platforms captured the moment Iranian missiles pierced through Israeli air defenses and exploded on impact, lighting up the skies over cities such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with massive fireballs.

The Iranian Armed Forces confirmed the commencement of “Operation True Promise 3,” a sustained military campaign aimed at Israeli military and strategic installations. General Ahmad Vahidi, a senior Iranian military official, stated that the operation would “continue for as long as necessary” to deter further aggression.

The rapidly deteriorating situation began overnight on Friday when Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes in and around the Iranian capital, Tehran, as well as other major cities. Anticipating a forceful Iranian response, Israeli Minister for Military Affairs Israel Katz declared a nationwide state of emergency.

In a significant escalation, Israeli forces targeted and assassinated two of Iran’s top military leaders: Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), both in Tehran. In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei promptly appointed new top military officials.

According to Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Sa’eed Iravani, the Israeli strikes have so far resulted in the deaths of 78 people, including high-ranking military officials, and left 320 others injured.

Meanwhile, air defense systems were seen actively engaging in central Tehran, intercepting Israeli drones and quadcopters flying over civilian neighborhoods in the night sky.

The intensifying exchange of firepower between the two regional powers has raised alarm across the international community, with calls mounting for urgent diplomatic intervention to prevent further escalation and regional destabilization.
