PM Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Pakistan’s Solidarity with Iran in Call with President Pezeshkian

Lahore, June 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, on Saturday evening, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people and government of Iran in the face of Israel’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression.

During the call, Prime Minister Sharif strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks on Iran, terming them a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a clear defiance of the UN Charter and established principles of international law. He reiterated that Iran, like any sovereign nation, has the inherent right to self-defence as enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The prime minister also expressed heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss of innocent lives in the attacks and recalled Pakistan’s principled support for Iran during the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council convened on Friday.

Denouncing Israel’s persistent provocations and military adventurism, Prime Minister Sharif described them as a grave threat to regional and global peace and stability. He also condemned Israel’s continued genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people, being carried out with total impunity.

Calling for urgent and credible international action, Prime Minister Sharif urged the United Nations and the broader international community to take concrete steps to halt Israel’s aggressive conduct and unlawful actions. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and its readiness to play a constructive role in promoting dialogue and stability.

President Pezeshkian expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Sharif for Pakistan’s strong support and solidarity at this critical time, particularly its stance at the United Nations. He underscored that this gesture reflected the deep-rooted and fraternal ties between Iran and Pakistan.

President Pezeshkian also briefed the prime minister on Iran’s position regarding the escalating crisis with Israel and stressed the importance of unity among Islamic nations in confronting common threats to regional peace.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual concern.
