Pakistan Officially Nominates Donald Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

Islamabad, June 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Government of Pakistan has officially decided to recommend former US President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his pivotal diplomatic intervention and leadership during the 2025 Pakistan–India standoff. The announcement was made through an official statement released on Friday.

The statement praised President Trump’s “strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship” for his role in facilitating a ceasefire agreement between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, effectively preventing a broader regional conflict. Trump’s efforts were complemented by intensive diplomacy led by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to the statement.

Islamabad accused India of launching “unprovoked and unlawful” military aggression that led to civilian casualties, including women, children, and the elderly. “This constituted a grave violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement noted.

In response to the escalation, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, described as a calibrated and precise military initiative aimed at restoring deterrence while minimizing civilian harm. The operation was undertaken in “exercise of the fundamental right of self-defence,” the statement said.

President Trump’s intervention is credited with helping to secure a ceasefire on May 10. Pakistani authorities characterized his diplomatic engagement as a “watershed moment for regional peace,” noting that his leadership averted a potentially devastating conflict between two nuclear powers.

The government also acknowledged and welcomed President Trump’s willingness to mediate the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which Islamabad views as a continuing source of instability in South Asia. “Durable peace in South Asia will remain elusive until UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir are implemented,” the statement emphasized.

Highlighting Trump’s broader contributions to peace-building, the statement declared: “President Trump’s leadership during the 2025 Pakistan–India crisis manifestly showcases the continuation of his legacy of pragmatic diplomacy and effective peace-building.”

The statement further expressed hope that Trump’s diplomatic engagements would continue to contribute to global stability, especially in light of ongoing conflicts in Gaza and rising tensions in Iran.

With this move, Pakistan becomes one of the first nations to formally nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, an honor traditionally awarded to individuals who have made significant and demonstrable contributions to peace and conflict resolution.
