Turkmenistan’s 35th Independence Anniversary Celebrated at Event in San Diego

San Diego, August 04, 2026 – The Europe Today: An event commemorating the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence was held last week in San Diego, California, bringing together representatives of government institutions, public organizations, media outlets and members of the local community, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States.

The event was organized by Fit International and featured exhibitions highlighting Turkmenistan’s rich cultural heritage, alongside photo and video presentations showcasing the country’s history, achievements and development.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Esen Aydogdyyev, attended the ceremony and extended congratulations on the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States. In his remarks, the ambassador noted that the celebrations of the independence anniversaries of both Turkmenistan and the United States underscore the enduring values of sovereignty, national identity, peaceful development and mutual respect between the two nations.

A key highlight of the program was the presentation of the book, “Neutrality of Turkmenistan — A Bright Path to Peace and Trust,” authored by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The publication emphasizes Turkmenistan’s longstanding policy of permanent neutrality and its commitment to promoting peace, dialogue and international cooperation.

President of Fit International, Kirt Edwards, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the organization’s long-standing partnership with Turkmenistan. He congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the anniversaries of Turkmenistan’s independence and permanent neutrality, reaffirming support for strengthening bilateral engagement and cooperation.

The event served as a platform to promote Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage, foreign policy principles and growing ties with the United States while reinforcing the importance of friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
