Indonesia Conducts Humanitarian Airdrop for Gaza on 80th Independence Anniversary

Jakarta, August 18, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Indonesian National Defence Force (TNI) successfully carried out humanitarian airdrops for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence.

Defence Ministry’s Defence Information Bureau Chief, Brigadier General Frega Wenas, described the achievement as a historic milestone and a special gift on the nation’s independence anniversary.

The operation was executed by the TNI’s “Garuda Merah Putih II” Task Force using two C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, which delivered 800 tons of humanitarian supplies, including food, medicines, and clothing.

The aircraft departed from King Abdullah II Air Base in Amman, Jordan, at 10:37 a.m. local time and dropped the aid at ten designated safe points across Gaza. Both planes returned and landed safely at 12:25 p.m. Jordan time.

Wenas emphasized that the mission was the result of close coordination between the TNI, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indonesian Alms Agency (Baznas).

Colonel Puguh Yulianto, Commander of the “Garuda Merah Putih II” Task Force, confirmed the successful completion of the mission, noting that it was carried out under the direct order of President Prabowo Subianto.

“This mission reflects Indonesia’s commitment to international humanitarian solidarity. Its success, coinciding with our independence celebrations, not only strengthens national pride but also demonstrates Indonesia’s contributions to global peace,” Yulianto stated.
