Tashkent, August 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday received U.S. Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.
Zampolli conveyed the warm greetings and congratulations of U.S. President Donald Trump on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day. The meeting centered on expanding the strategic partnership and strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the continuation of productive contacts at various levels, noting the constructive political dialogue and growing interparliamentary exchanges. Last month, events marking Uzbekistan Day were held in the U.S. Congress, while the inaugural session of the Expanded Strategic Partnership Dialogue is scheduled for this autumn.
Discussions also highlighted practical cooperation in security, counterterrorism, combating extremism, and addressing illegal migration.
Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of bilateral relations, with the U.S. recognized as a key partner. In 2024, trade turnover increased by 15 percent, and the bilateral project portfolio now exceeds $11 billion. The Tashkent Investment Forum in June brought together representatives of more than 100 leading American companies, underscoring significant opportunities for joint projects in mineral resources, aviation, electrical engineering, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, innovation, and education.
The leaders also emphasized the importance of enhancing regional cooperation within the C5+1 format and reviewed the schedule of upcoming contacts and joint events.
