Kazakhstan’s Industrial Output Grows 6.9%, Manufacturing Surpasses Extractive Sector

Astana, September 05, 2025 – The Europe Today: Kazakhstan’s industrial output index increased by 6.9%, including notable growth in the manufacturing sector, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said at an extended meeting of the AMANAT Party faction, according to the Government’s press service.

Bektenov highlighted that machine building, food production, petrochemicals, and chemicals demonstrated the strongest growth. In the first seven months of 2024, Kazakhstan’s manufacturing output reached 16.2 trillion tenge, accounting for 47% of total industrial production and surpassing the extractive sector’s share by 1.4%.

This year, 190 projects in the manufacturing sector worth 1.5 trillion tenge are planned for launch, expected to create over 20,000 jobs and generate up to 2.2 trillion tenge in output. Over the past three years, Kazakhstan has initiated the production of polypropylene, ferrosilicon, special coke, household appliances, car tires, and truck components.

The Prime Minister also reported that metal ore mining surged by 7.8%, while metal fabrication rose by 6.9% in 2024.

The meeting, held ahead of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s upcoming annual state-of-the-nation address, brought together Bektenov and government officials to review progress in key economic sectors.

Meanwhile, Samruk-Kazyna announced more than 130 infrastructure projects at the Astana Finance Days (AFD), further underscoring Kazakhstan’s industrial and economic development priorities.
