Cần ThơNovember 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Trần Thanh Mẫn attended the Great National Solidarity Festival in Châu Thành Hamlet, An Ninh Commune, in the Mekong Delta city of Cần Thơ on Sunday.

The event marked the 95th founding anniversary of the Việt Nam National United Front (November 18, 1930–2025), now known as the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF).

Addressing the gathering, NA Chairman Mẫn praised Châu Thành Hamlet for its achievements in community development and commended the local board for VFF affairs for its active engagement in strengthening solidarity and promoting socio-economic progress.

He, however, noted that Cần Thơ’s overall development, including that of An Ninh Commune, remains below its potential—particularly following the city’s administrative expansion through recent mergers.

The NA leader urged local authorities and residents to intensify learning and innovation efforts, ensure sustainable poverty reduction—especially in remote areas and within the Khmer ethnic community—and to focus on grassroots development. “When hamlets, communes, and wards are strong, the city will be strong,” he affirmed.

Chairman Mẫn called on the Cần Thơ VFF Committee to continue modernising its operations, staying close to the people, and enhancing mobilisation to support policy beneficiaries, veterans, and low-income families.

He also stressed that local officials, Party members, and mass organisations must serve as the core nucleus in community work, guided by the principles of staying close to the people, the grassroots, and the digital space. They must listen to the people, lead by example, uphold responsibility, and deliver results—while avoiding formality, evasion, or overstepping their mandates.

On this occasion, the top legislator presented gifts to residents in Châu Thành Hamlet and Tum Núp Pagoda. The Cần Thơ municipal authorities awarded 20 scholarships to outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Khmer dignitaries, families of policy beneficiaries, model households, and underprivileged Khmer families also received gifts.

In Châu Thành Hamlet, the Việt Nam Fatherland Front has played an instrumental role in maintaining political stability, social order, and ethnic and religious unity, while motivating residents to actively participate in local development.

According to Nguyễn Hữu Thiện, head of the hamlet’s board for VFF affairs, collaboration between the board, Party cells, and mass organisations has yielded strong results through the campaign “All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilised urban communities.”

Currently, 1,078 out of 1,119 households (98.2 per cent) in Châu Thành Hamlet have been recognised as “Families of Culture,” and the hamlet is being considered for the “Hamlet of Culture” title.

Efforts to preserve local culture have also been strengthened, alongside the effective dissemination of Party, State, and local policies to ensure broad community participation and sustainable development.
