Kazakh, Russian Presidents Discuss Strategic Partnership and Ukraine Peace Efforts in Phone Call

Astana, December 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, on Tuesday, Akorda reported. The leaders discussed the current state of bilateral relations and reflected on a productive year in Kazakh-Russian cooperation.

During the call, both presidents highlighted the elevation of their ties to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, marking a significant milestone in the countries’ relations.

President Tokayev welcomed progress in the Ukraine settlement talks and emphasized the importance of continuing political and diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting agreements. He also condemned recent attacks on the Russian presidential residence, stressing that such actions undermine the peace process and efforts to reach a political solution to the conflict.

The conversation concluded with both leaders exchanging New Year greetings and wishing the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia prosperity, well-being, and continued friendship.
