Putin Calls for New Investment Cycle to Boost Russia’s Economic Growth

Moscow, October 16, 2026 – The Europe Today: Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for launching a new investment cycle to strengthen the country’s domestic market, expand innovative industries and create modern, high-quality jobs.

Addressing the congress of Delovaya Rossiya, an all-Russian public organisation representing the business community, Putin said investment should be directed towards innovative companies and projects in industry, logistics, creative industries, tourism and other sectors capable of meeting growing domestic and global demand.

He emphasised that businesses would play a leading role in this effort, driven by opportunities in promising projects and the creation of employment opportunities across Russian cities and towns. The state, he added, would continue supporting business and investment activity while working with entrepreneurs to resolve pressing economic issues.

Putin also praised the Russian business community for demonstrating what he described as a responsible civic stance amid challenging circumstances. He said entrepreneurs had shown a commitment to improving citizens’ quality of life, adding that their knowledge, skills and long-term interests remained closely connected to Russia’s development and prosperity.

“A strong, sovereign country is the guarantee of a strong, competitive business,” Putin said, stressing the importance of cooperation between the state and the private sector.

Discussing the financial sector, the Russian president said the country’s stock market remained stable and reliable but acknowledged that further efforts were needed to achieve more ambitious development goals.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening the stock market and ensuring robust protection for citizens’ investments, particularly pension funds, saying such assets must be safeguarded with the highest degree of certainty.

Putin also recognised the contribution of Delovaya Rossiya to improving the country’s business environment. He recalled that the National Entrepreneurial Initiative was launched at one of the organisation’s congresses 15 years ago to reduce administrative burdens, eliminate excessive regulation, simplify reporting requirements and streamline the process of obtaining permits.

He said Delovaya Rossiya continued to play an important role in shaping a more competitive business climate and promoting investment standards across Russia’s regions in cooperation with regional authorities.
