Washington, January 26, 2026 – The Europe Today: US President Donald Trump has expressed strong concerns over a potential trade deal between China and Canada, warning that it could have devastating effects on the Canadian economy.

In posts on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump stated that “Canada is systematically destroying itself” and described the trade deal with China as “a disaster” that would go down as “one of the worst deals of any kind in history.”

The US leader further noted that Canadian businesses are increasingly relocating to the United States. “I want Canada to survive and prosper,” Trump said, highlighting the importance of Canada maintaining strong trade ties with the US.

Accompanying his remarks, Trump shared a video of a speech by representatives of the Canadian auto industry, in which the significance of continued economic cooperation with the United States was emphasized.

In another post, President Trump asserted that “China is successfully and completely taking over the once great Canada,” adding a lighter comment: “It’s so sad to see this. I just hope they don’t touch hockey.”
