Rawalpindi, January 29, 2026 – The Europe Today: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, visited Bahawalpur Garrison and witnessed a high-intensity field exercise, “Steadfast Resolve,” at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT), showcasing the integration of advanced technologies including unmanned aerial systems (drones), cutting-edge surveillance assets, electronic warfare systems, and modern command-and-control mechanisms. The exercise reflects the Pakistan Armed Forces’ focus on technology-enabled multi-domain operations, according to a press release by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, the COAS was briefed on various operational, training, and administrative aspects of the Corps, with particular emphasis on preparations for multi-domain warfare. Addressing the troops, Field Marshal Munir lauded their high morale, professional competence, and operational readiness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats, stressing the importance of maintaining optimal readiness to meet future battlefield and security challenges.
The COAS highlighted that the nature of warfare has evolved significantly, with technological advancements driving transformation across all tiers. He noted that in the future, technological manoeuvres will increasingly replace physical operations, fundamentally changing offensive and defensive strategies. In this context, the Armed Forces are rapidly embracing technology, with innovation, indigenisation, and adaptation forming the foundation of this transformation.
Earlier, Field Marshal Munir inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at promoting digital skills and learning opportunities for students, particularly from Southern Punjab and across the country. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to quality education and character building.
The COAS & CDF later visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on the maintenance regime to sustain modern platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation, and other combat support measures.
Upon his arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, the COAS & CDF was received by the Commander of Bahawalpur Corps. He also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs.
