Trump

Washington, April 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: Donald Trump on Thursday indicated that the next round of talks between the United States and Iran aimed at reaching a peace agreement is likely to take place over the weekend.

Speaking to reporters, President Trump said there was a possibility he could travel to Islamabad if a deal is successfully concluded.

“If a deal is signed in Islamabad, I may go. They want me,” Trump remarked, adding that Pakistan has played a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.

The US president also praised Pakistan’s leadership for its mediation efforts, specifically acknowledging Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir for their contributions to advancing diplomatic engagement.

“Pakistan have been so great. I might go if the deal is done in Islamabad. The field marshal has been great and the prime minister has been really great in Pakistan,” he said.

Trump’s remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran, with Pakistan playing an increasingly prominent role in supporting dialogue and promoting regional stability.
