Helsinki, June 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: Finland’s capital is preparing for a lively weekend as warm weather and clear skies are expected to coincide with several major cultural events, including the country’s largest human rights celebration and popular music festivals.
Forecasters predict temperatures in southern Finland could climb to 26°C, creating ideal conditions for outdoor gatherings across the region.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Helsinki Pride Parade, the concluding event of Helsinki Pride Week. The procession is scheduled to begin at Senate Square at noon on Saturday before moving along Mannerheimintie and the South Esplanade, ultimately reaching Kaivopuisto, where the traditional Park Festival will take place.
Authorities have announced temporary road closures along the parade route to ensure the safety of participants and spectators. Traffic disruptions are expected to be most significant around Senate Square, Mannerheimintie, and the Esplanade leading to Kaivopuisto. Drivers travelling to the South Harbour or Katajanokka Harbour have been advised to use alternative routes via Sörnäinen and Pohjoisranta.
Police said officers will be deployed throughout the event to manage traffic, maintain public order, and provide security during both the parade and the park celebrations.
In addition to Pride festivities, Helsinki will host two major music events. The Tuska heavy metal festival will take place in the Suvilahti district from Friday through Sunday, while the Bassline electronic music festival will transform parts of the city centre into a vibrant street party on Friday and Saturday.
With favourable weather and a packed schedule of cultural activities, Helsinki is expected to welcome large crowds throughout the weekend.
