Baku, July 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree outlining measures for the successful organization of the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, which Azerbaijan will host in October 2026.
According to the decree, the Organizing Committee established under the presidential order of December 15, 2025, to oversee preparations for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan has also been entrusted with coordinating all necessary arrangements for the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival.
The committee will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of all relevant measures and resolving issues required to ensure the successful staging of the tournament. The decree also instructs the Cabinet of Ministers to address all matters arising from its implementation.
The decision to award the tournament to Azerbaijan was made by the Bureau of the FIFA Council on June 25, 2026, confirming that the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival will take place in the country from October 22 to 31, 2026.
The tournament will mark the first-ever FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, representing a new milestone in international youth football.
Officials said hosting the event is expected to further strengthen Azerbaijan’s position as a leading destination for international sporting events, contribute to the continued development of football in the country, and enhance its experience in organizing major global competitions.
The initiative reflects Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to promoting youth sports, expanding football development programs, and reinforcing its reputation as a capable host of prestigious international sporting events.
