Cholpon-Ata, July 31, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Central Asian nations, pledging that Azerbaijan will play an active role in advancing regional partnership and integration.
Speaking at the Informal Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, President Aliyev stressed Azerbaijan’s determination to further expand collaboration through the consultative format.
“Azerbaijan will expand cooperation with Central Asian countries,” the President said, underscoring Baku’s commitment to fostering closer political, economic, and people-to-people ties across the region.
President Aliyev assured the participating leaders that Azerbaijan would remain an active and constructive member of the consultative mechanism, contributing to initiatives that promote regional connectivity, mutual understanding, and shared prosperity.
“I want to assure you that Azerbaijan will be an active member of the consultative format and will, for its part, make every effort to further expand cooperation and bring our countries and peoples even closer together,” he said.
The Azerbaijani leader highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and coordinated efforts among regional partners to strengthen cooperation and address common opportunities and challenges.
The informal meeting brought together the leaders of Azerbaijan and the five Central Asian states to discuss key regional issues and explore avenues for enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including economic development, connectivity, trade, and regional stability.
