Dushanbe, August 17, 2026 — The Europe Today: Mayor of Shiraz Mohammad Hasan Asadi and his accompanying delegation, during an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, visited the Hisor Historical and Cultural Reserve and explored the ancient history, rich culture and unique historical monuments of the city.
According to the Khovar News Agency, citing the Executive Body of State Power of Hisor, the Shiraz delegation toured the historic Hisor Fortress and other important sites within the reserve, expressing keen interest in the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
During the visit, the guests were also briefed on the history of the Palace of the Ruler of Hisor and its significance in the political and social life of earlier periods. It was noted that the preservation and protection of historical monuments, as well as their promotion among domestic and international visitors, remain important priorities for the development of tourism and culture in Hisor.
The Shiraz delegation further visited local handicraft shops, where they viewed products made by artisans of Hisor, including traditional handicrafts, sewing products and other handmade items.
The visitors highly appreciated the craftsmanship of local artisans, noting that initiatives aimed at promoting traditional crafts, supporting women and artisans, and showcasing national cultural heritage play an important role in cultural development and tourism promotion.
The visit of the Shiraz delegation to the historical and cultural sites of Hisor is expected to contribute to strengthening friendship and expanding cultural and economic cooperation between the two ancient cities, while further promoting inter-city relations and people-to-people ties.
