Baku, August 22, 2026 — The Europe Today: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has said that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan regard the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) not only as a platform for interstate cooperation but also as an important association that carries their shared history, culture and spiritual values into the future.
In an interview with the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA), Aliyev emphasized the important role played by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in strengthening cooperation within the OTS.
He said the two countries’ contributions to political dialogue, economic cooperation, transport and logistics connectivity, as well as education, science, culture and humanitarian affairs, were helping deepen integration among Turkic states.
Aliyev noted that cooperation within the OTS provides opportunities to strengthen ties among member states across a broad range of areas while promoting their common historical and cultural heritage.
The Azerbaijani president highlighted the growing importance of practical cooperation in trade, transport and logistics, alongside closer interaction in education, science and cultural and humanitarian fields.
He stressed that the shared efforts of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan within the OTS contribute to strengthening solidarity and expanding integration among Turkic countries, while providing a foundation for further cooperation based on common historical, cultural and spiritual values.
The remarks underscore the strategic importance Azerbaijan attaches to the OTS as a mechanism for advancing cooperation and strengthening relations among Turkic states.
