Dushanbe, August 26, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon presented state awards, honorary titles and other distinctions to representatives of various professions for outstanding achievements and contributions to the country’s development ahead of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence.
The award ceremony was held at the Palace of the Nation in Dushanbe, where President Rahmon congratulated the recipients on the upcoming 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and on being recognized with state honours.
In his address, Rahmon said that over 35 years of independence, Tajikistan had successfully overcome difficult stages of its modern history by relying on the strong will, unity and dedicated efforts of its people.
The President emphasized the significant contribution of citizens from different sectors to the country’s development and prosperity, noting that their dedicated work in various areas of state and public life was being duly recognized by the government.
Rahmon stressed that, in view of 2026 being declared the “Year of Expanding Improvement and Construction Efforts and Strengthening National Self-Awareness,” greater efforts should be directed toward developing all parts of the country, strengthening national consciousness and fostering patriotism, particularly among young people.
The President described peace, stability and national unity as the greatest achievements of the Tajik people and expressed confidence that those receiving state awards would continue contributing their knowledge, skills and energy to strengthening the country’s independence, social foundations and development.
Following the President’s address, the official presentation of state awards took place.
A total of 165 representatives from science and culture, healthcare, manufacturing and services, local government bodies and other sectors received state awards for outstanding professional achievements, effective public service and contributions to the development of the national economy.
The awards were presented in accordance with a presidential decree recognizing individuals for their contributions to science and culture, healthcare, public administration, production, entrepreneurship and other areas in accordance with Article 69 of the Constitution of Tajikistan.
President Rahmon particularly highlighted the contribution of scientists, writers and cultural figures to the country’s development.
As part of the ceremony, seven individuals received the honorary title of People’s Artist of Tajikistan. One person was awarded the honorary title of Honored Worker of Art of Tajikistan, while 10 received the title of Honored Artist of Tajikistan and 12 were named Honored Worker of Tajikistan.
Among the other distinctions presented were the Order of Sharaf, First Class, to two recipients; the Order of Sharaf, Second Class, to 18 recipients; the Medal for Distinguished Service to 81 recipients; and the Medal of Compassion to two recipients.
In addition, 22 people were presented with the commemorative medal marking the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence.
The President noted that social protection, education and science, healthcare and culture remain among the government’s priority areas, with continued measures being implemented to improve working conditions and living standards for employees in these sectors.
During the ceremony, Rahmon praised the dedicated service of specialists and workers from various fields, including scientists, teachers, doctors, poets, writers, cultural and artistic professionals, diplomats, workers, builders and agricultural specialists.
He also highlighted the valuable contribution of patriotic entrepreneurs, investors and philanthropists to the country’s economic development and improvement.
The President expressed gratitude to entrepreneurs who received state awards as well as to philanthropists across the country, wishing them continued success in their activities.
Special recognition was given to specialists, workers, entrepreneurs and managers of domestic and foreign companies involved in the construction of the strategic Rogun hydropower project, which the government considers central to strengthening Tajikistan’s energy independence.
Meanwhile, according to the decision of the State Prize Committee of Tajikistan named after Abuabdullo Rudaki in literature, art, architecture and journalism, 10 individuals were named recipients of the 2026 State Prize by a decision of the Government.
Concluding the ceremony, President Rahmon once again congratulated all recipients and expressed confidence that they would continue to use their knowledge, experience, professional skills and efforts to promote Tajikistan’s development, strengthen peace, political stability and national unity, and improve the welfare of the country’s population.
