Dushanbe, September 2, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on September 1 in Bishkek on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The two leaders discussed the current state of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, as well as prospects for further development of bilateral relations.
Particular attention was paid to issues related to security and stability, trade and economic cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian ties.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction of the Center for the Development of Gifted Children and the new building of the Mayakovsky Drama Theatre in Dushanbe.
The development of trade, entrepreneurship, investment cooperation and energy cooperation also featured prominently in the talks.
The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation to ensure regional security and stability, including joint efforts to counter emerging global threats and challenges.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues.
