Algiers, September 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf received Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers on Wednesday, as part of efforts to strengthen relations between Algeria and Slovakia.
The meeting, held during Blanár’s official visit to Algeria on September 8–9, focused on consolidating friendship, cooperation and partnership between the two countries, while advancing political dialogue and consultations on regional and international issues of common interest.
Attaf held a bilateral meeting with his Slovak counterpart before the discussions were expanded to include members of the delegations from both countries.
The talks provided an opportunity to review various aspects of bilateral relations, assess the existing level of cooperation and explore ways to give further impetus to joint efforts, particularly in priority sectors including energy, higher education and scientific research, industry, water resources management and investment promotion.
The two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening Algerian-Slovak relations and broadening cooperation in a manner that reflects the potential available in both countries and serves their common interests.
The discussions also covered a number of current regional and international issues of mutual concern, as well as ways to enhance coordination and consultation between Algeria and Slovakia on matters on the regional and international agendas.
Following the talks, the two ministers signed a bilateral agreement establishing a joint commission aimed at providing an institutional framework for bilateral cooperation and giving renewed momentum to relations between the two countries.
