Dushanbe, September 12, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, attended and addressed a festive event in Rasht District on Friday evening marking the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the outset, President Rahmon congratulated the hardworking residents of Rasht, Nurobod, Tojikobod, Lakhsh and Sangvor districts, as well as all participants of the celebration, on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The President noted that, in preparation for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence, the construction and reconstruction of 986 production and social facilities had been planned across the districts of the Rasht Valley. As of August 20, 2026, a total of 825 facilities, or 82.1 percent, had been commissioned.
President Rahmon praised the significant contribution made by local residents, patriotic entrepreneurs and philanthropists to the construction of the anniversary facilities. He expressed appreciation for their constructive initiatives, strong sense of patriotism and active participation in the development of the country.
The President said that during the period of independence, more than 50,000 families in the Rasht Valley districts had been allocated residential land plots covering a total area of 11,000 hectares, aimed at improving living conditions and facilitating the construction of housing.
He also noted that over the past 20 years, the Directorate for the Construction of Government Facilities under the Executive Office of the President had constructed and commissioned 43 facilities in Rasht, Nurobod, Sangvor, Tojikobod and Lakhsh districts at a total cost exceeding 250 million somoni. Construction of five additional facilities, with a combined value of 370 million somoni, is currently underway.
During his address, President Rahmon reviewed the development and progress achieved in key sectors of the national economy, including industry, agriculture and energy.
Referring to achievements in the transport sector, the President noted that dozens of major state investment projects for the construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges had been implemented across the Rasht Valley.
In particular, 300 kilometres of the Dushanbe–Karamik road sections in Rasht and Tojikobod districts had been rehabilitated. In Lakhsh District, 255 kilometres of roads and 15 bridges had been constructed or rehabilitated under three projects at a cost of 850 million somoni. Other road improvement projects are also continuing.
President Rahmon highlighted the significant attention given to education, noting that more than 2.1 billion somoni had been allocated from the national budget over the past 20 years for the development of education in the valley districts.
He further stated that from 1998 to 2026, since the establishment of the Presidential quota system, 3,100 young people from the aforementioned districts, including 1,900 girls, had been admitted to higher education institutions across the country under the programme.
The President also emphasised that protecting public health, particularly the health of mothers and children, remains one of the priorities of the state’s social policy. Currently, 300 healthcare facilities operate in the Rasht region, employing 431 doctors and 1,200 mid-level medical personnel who provide healthcare services to the population.
President Rahmon stressed that the new stage of national development requires leaders, officials and every responsible citizen to demonstrate a high level of responsibility and commitment.
Concluding his address, President Rahmon expressed confidence that the people of the Rasht Valley would continue to work faithfully for the development and prosperity of their beloved homeland — independent Tajikistan.
Following the President’s address, a grand concert programme was held as part of the celebrations. Renowned artists and performers from the Rasht Valley presented songs based on the works of prominent poets and compositions by renowned musicians, celebrating the homeland, Tajikistan, independence, national unity and the country’s leadership.
The festive concert programme was held in a vibrant and memorable atmosphere to mark the national celebration of Tajikistan’s 35th anniversary of state independence.
