Ibarra, September 14, 2026 – The Europe Today: Morocco participated as the guest of honor at the fifth edition of Ecuador’s International Cooperation Fair, Territorial Edition, held on September 10 and 11 in Ibarra, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation through innovation, knowledge sharing and capacity building.
The Moroccan delegation included representatives of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), the Embassy of Morocco in Ecuador, and the Artificial Intelligence Research Center at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
The event was organized by Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility in cooperation with the Municipality of Ibarra and the Provincial Government of Imbabura.
During the fair, AMCI presented Morocco’s approach to South-South cooperation, with particular emphasis on innovation, technology and the exchange of expertise to address emerging development challenges in partner countries.
Morocco’s designation as guest of honor reflected the growing cooperation between Rabat and Quito, as well as Morocco’s broader commitment to developing partnerships based on solidarity, knowledge transfer and mutual benefit.
AMCI also operated a dedicated exhibition stand showcasing its mandate, areas of intervention and experience in international cooperation, particularly its engagement with countries in Latin America.
Moroccan representatives took part in discussions with officials and representatives of various countries and international cooperation organizations. AMCI officials and the Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center at UM6P participated in panels focusing on South-South and triangular cooperation, innovative partnership mechanisms, solidarity and territorial resilience.
The discussions formed part of broader efforts to strengthen the “International Cooperation Ecosystem 2.0” through more coordinated, effective and inclusive cooperation mechanisms.
Morocco’s participation in the Ecuadorian fair comes as AMCI continues to expand triangular cooperation initiatives with European and African partners. On September 9, AMCI and Belgium’s Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel) signed a memorandum of understanding in Brussels aimed at strengthening their partnership and developing new triangular cooperation projects in Africa.
Through such international platforms, AMCI continues to promote Morocco’s experience in capacity building, knowledge sharing, skills development and the implementation of development projects for partner countries.
