Dushanbe, October 1, 2026 – The Europe Today: A meeting of the Government of Tajikistan was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of President of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, with the participants reviewing an environmental education programme and a range of economic, cultural and development issues.
The meeting began with consideration of the draft State Programme for the Development of Environmental Education and Environmental Culture of the Population of Tajikistan for 2026–2030. A report on the programme was presented by Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection.
It was noted that the programme is aimed at raising environmental literacy among different sections of the population, promoting sustainable environmental values and developing responsible behaviour among citizens.
The programme also seeks to encourage young people, public organizations and enterprises to participate actively in environmental initiatives and strengthen environmental awareness activities.
The meeting emphasized that the development of environmental culture had been incorporated into the programme as one of the priority areas of environmental protection.
President Emomali Rahmon instructed the relevant authorities to approve the State Programme for the Development of Environmental Education and Environmental Culture of the Population for 2026–2030, together with an implementation action plan.
He also instructed the relevant structures to submit annual reports on the implementation of the programme to the Government of Tajikistan by March 1.
The meeting subsequently reviewed draft government decisions, including the Action Plan for the State Programme for the Development of Cinema in Tajikistan for 2023–2027 for 2027.
The participants also considered projected key macroeconomic indicators for Tajikistan for 2028 and the main parameters for 2029–2030.
Following discussions, President Rahmon issued instructions and recommendations to relevant ministries, government agencies and executive authorities of the regions, cities and districts to ensure the effective implementation of the programmes and planned indicators.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President drew the attention of government members and heads of other state structures to the need for the mandatory and timely implementation of instructions issued at previous government meetings, as well as decisions addressed during the latest meeting.
Particular attention was given to preparations for the winter of 2026–2027, including ensuring adequate stocks of fuel and food supplies.
President Rahmon also instructed officials to accelerate the harvesting of remaining cotton, fruits and vegetables, conduct autumn grain sowing and continue expanding improvement and development works across the country.
