Beijing, January 12, 2024, The Europe Today: Official data released on Friday reveals that the total length of operational urban rail transit lines in China has now reached an impressive 10,165.7 km.
According to the Ministry of Transport’s December 2023 report, a total of 55 cities across the country are currently served by 306 rail transit lines. The recent month alone saw the addition of 250.1 km of new lines, contributing to the nation’s expanding urban rail network. Notably, China’s urban rail transit system experienced a substantial increase in passenger trips during December, with 2.67 billion recorded—a 3.2 percent growth from the previous month and a remarkable 34 percent surge compared to the average monthly ridership in 2019.
This data underscores the ongoing and rapid development of China’s urban transit infrastructure, reflecting the nation’s commitment to advancing transportation networks.
