Kazakhstan’s Valentina Khalzova Secures Olympic Berth at World Qualification Tournament

Bangkok, June 02, 2024, The Europe Today: Kazakhstan’s Valentina Khalzova has secured her place in the 2024 Olympic Games in the women’s 75kg boxing category, following a triumphant performance at the 2nd World Qualification Tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand, Kazakh media reports.

Khalzova showcased her prowess by winning the first and second rounds with scores of 5-0 and 10-8, respectively. In the final round, she decisively defeated Colombian boxer Shirleidis Orozco with a score of 5-0, earning the gold medal and an Olympic berth.

This achievement marks Kazakhstan’s second Olympic quota in women’s boxing for the 2024 Games. The first quota was claimed by Karina Ibragimova in the 57kg weight division.

The Kazakh boxing team now boasts a total of eight Olympic quotas, reflecting the strength and competitive edge of its athletes on the international stage.

Khalzova’s success not only adds to Kazakhstan’s Olympic aspirations but also underscores the country’s growing prominence in the sport of boxing.
