Astana, October 13, 2024 – The Europe Today: The 21st meeting of the EU-Kazakhstan Cooperation Council is scheduled to take place on October 14, 2024, in Luxembourg, according to media reports. The meeting will focus on evaluating the current state of relations between Kazakhstan and the European Union and exploring further steps under the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA).
Key topics of discussion will include political, economic, and trade relations, along with cooperation initiatives. Participants will also exchange views on regional and international developments, including security issues and the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, which aims to enhance global connectivity through infrastructure and sustainable development.
The European Union delegation will be led by Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, representing the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Kazakhstan’s delegation will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu.
This meeting comes at a time of robust economic ties between Kazakhstan and the EU, with bilateral trade reaching USD 20.2 billion in the first five months of the year, further underscoring the significance of the partnership.
