Astana, August 04, 2026 – The Europe Today: A majority of Kazakhstan’s citizens are prepared to participate in the upcoming Qurultay elections scheduled for August 23, 2026, according to a nationwide public opinion survey conducted by the Institute of Public Policy.
The survey found that 72.3 percent of respondents intend to cast their ballots, reflecting a high level of public readiness for the country’s forthcoming parliamentary elections. Additionally, 89.4 percent of those surveyed said they were aware of the elections, with 55.2 percent describing themselves as well informed and 34.2 percent indicating they had heard about the vote but lacked detailed information. Awareness was particularly strong among older citizens and residents of rural areas.
According to the findings, 11.9 percent of respondents said they do not plan to vote, while 15.8 percent remain undecided, including 0.5 percent who did not provide an answer. The survey also revealed that 87.6 percent of those intending to vote had previously participated in Kazakhstan’s constitutional referendum held on March 15, 2026, highlighting sustained civic engagement in major political processes.
In terms of party preferences, the Adilet Party emerged as the leading choice with 67.3 percent support among prospective voters. It was followed by the Auyl Party with 6.2 percent, Respublica at 5.5 percent, Ak Zhol with 4.8 percent, the Nationwide Social Democratic Party (NSDP) at 4.3 percent, the People’s Party of Kazakhstan (NPK) with 3.9 percent, and Baitaq with 1.1 percent. Meanwhile, 1.6 percent of respondents said they would vote against all parties, while 5.3 percent had yet to make a final decision.
The survey identified a positive assessment of party initiatives as the primary factor influencing voter choice, cited by 44.4 percent of respondents. Other key considerations included long-term loyalty to a political party (29.2 percent), confidence that a party represents Kazakhstan’s future (25.3 percent), and satisfaction with how parties engage with the public (14.7 percent).
The Institute of Public Policy said the results demonstrate strong public interest in the upcoming Qurultay elections and a high level of electoral preparedness across the country.
The survey was conducted between July 7 and July 27, 2026, involving 8,000 respondents aged 18 and above from Kazakhstan’s 17 regions and the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent. The research was based on face-to-face interviews and has a margin of error of ±1.19 percent.
