Belarus Leads Industrial Growth in the Eurasian Economic Union

Moscow, October 14, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarus has emerged as one of the leaders in industrial growth within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), according to data provided by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

From January to August 2024, industrial production in the EAEU saw a significant increase of 4.5% compared to the same period in 2023. The EEC noted that all EAEU member states registered growth in industrial output during this period.

Armenia recorded the highest surge, with a 13.7% increase in industrial production, while Belarus followed closely with a 7.1% rise. Russia saw a 4.5% increase, Kazakhstan grew by 3%, and Kyrgyzstan registered a modest 0.7% rise.

The processing industry across the EAEU expanded by 7.9%, and the sectors of electricity, gas, steam supply, and air conditioning recorded a 3.8% increase. Additionally, the water supply, sewerage system, and waste management sector grew by 1.1%. However, the EEC also reported a slight contraction of 0.2% in the mining industry and quarrying sector.

These figures underscore the continued industrial development within the EAEU, with Belarus playing a leading role in driving regional growth.
