Astana, October 17, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev today delivered a keynote address at the plenary session of the Astana Think Tank Forum, as reported by the Akorda press service. He noted that while major powers are often embroiled in rivalry or fail to achieve compromise, middle powers are frequently the key mediators in resolving conflicts and upholding the principles of global cooperation.
President Tokayev also spoke about the political reforms underway in Kazakhstan, aimed at ensuring prosperity and fulfilling the democratic aspirations of its citizens. He pointed to the recent nationwide referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant as a demonstration of the country’s commitment to democratic values.
“The reforms are crucial for maintaining internal stability, fostering economic growth, and attracting foreign investment,” the President remarked, underscoring the importance of these efforts for Kazakhstan’s future.
