Baku, October 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: In line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing joint scientific research, a delegation from Baku Engineering University (BEU), led by Rector Yaqub Piriyev, visited the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute (AFSI) to explore collaborative research opportunities, News Hub Consultants reports.
During the meeting, AFSI Board Chairman Ali Nabiyev provided an in-depth presentation on the institute’s key operational areas. He highlighted the specialized laboratories dedicated to food safety, complex research, and plant and animal health, which play a crucial role in safeguarding public health in Azerbaijan. The laboratories conduct rigorous examinations of various food products based on quality and safety standards, ensuring the highest levels of food security.
The delegation was also briefed on the recent advancements in Azerbaijan’s food safety laboratory infrastructure, including the modernization of equipment and expansion of research capabilities. Emphasis was placed on AFSI’s collaborations with international organizations to enhance the practical and theoretical expertise of its personnel. Notably, the institute has achieved significant milestones in international competency tests, underscoring its commitment to global standards in food safety.
Discussions at the meeting focused on expanding joint research activities, with both parties identifying key areas for future collaboration and proposing actionable steps to strengthen scientific and technological ties.
The BEU delegation toured the AFSI laboratories, observing firsthand the testing procedures for plant and animal-based food products. They examined advanced equipment and gained insights into the institute’s examination methods for assessing safety and quality indicators.
