Hanoi, January 31, 2025 – The Europe Today: Bolivian President Luis Alberto Arce has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to fostering strong ties with Vietnam, recognizing its increasing role and influence on the global stage.
During a recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil and Bolivia Bùi Văn Nghị, who presented his credentials on January 27, President Arce expressed his hope for enhanced relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Bolivia’s Movement Towards Socialism. He also emphasized the importance of sharing governance and development experiences between the two nations.
President Arce praised Vietnam’s historical achievements in national liberation and reunification, as well as its progress in economic renewal, international integration, and development under the leadership of the CPV. He underscored Bolivia’s interest in expanding cooperation with Vietnam in key areas such as trade, investment, tourism, mining, agriculture, and renewable energy. Expressing confidence in Ambassador Nghị’s mission, he hoped the diplomat would contribute significantly to strengthening bilateral relations.
Conveying greetings from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, State President Lương Cường, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, and National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn to President Arce, Ambassador Nghị pledged efforts to deepen the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized Vietnam’s desire to enhance economic and trade partnerships with Bolivia while exploring collaboration opportunities in culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Following the credential presentation, Ambassador Nghị held working sessions with Bolivian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Esteban Catarina and Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration Huáscar Ajata Guerrero. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties, facilitating high-level delegation exchanges, and expanding cooperation in multilateral forums.
Bolivia expressed particular interest in attracting investment into its mining industry, especially in lithium, tungsten, gold, silver, and copper. The South American nation also highlighted opportunities for exporting soybeans, beef, and timber to Vietnam while seeking imports of high-quality Vietnamese products, including truck tires, automobiles, motorbikes, footwear, and clothing. Furthermore, Bolivia invited Vietnamese enterprises to engage in infrastructure development projects, such as airport expansion, bridge and highway construction, and tourism collaboration.
The discussions reinforced both countries’ commitment to strengthening economic and diplomatic ties, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in multiple sectors.
