President Asif Ali Zardari to Embark on State Visit to China

Islamabad, February 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Asif Ali Zardari will undertake a state visit to China from February 4 to 8 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, underscoring the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) confirmed the visit on Monday, highlighting its significance in reinforcing bilateral ties.

During his stay in Beijing, President Zardari is scheduled to engage in high-level discussions with President Xi, Premier Li Qiang, and other senior Chinese officials. These meetings will encompass a broad spectrum of issues, focusing on economic and trade cooperation, security collaboration, and the advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In addition to bilateral discussions, the leaders will exchange views on regional and global geopolitical developments and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in multilateral forums.

President Zardari will also attend the inaugural ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, at the special invitation of the Chinese government. His participation underscores the growing cultural and diplomatic exchanges between Pakistan and China.

Pakistan and China share a deep-rooted alliance, often described as an “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.” The upcoming visit is expected to strengthen mutual commitments on key economic and security matters, reaffirming Pakistan’s close ties with its largest trade and investment partner.

The visit holds particular importance as Pakistan seeks to revitalize its economy and enhance regional connectivity through CPEC, a flagship project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It is anticipated that the trip will lead to new agreements aimed at fostering deeper economic collaboration and addressing regional security challenges.

MOFA emphasized that in the face of evolving geopolitical dynamics, the visit serves as a reaffirmation of the longstanding diplomatic and economic commitments between the two nations, reinforcing a partnership that remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
