Islamabad, February 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with a model of Turkiye’s homegrown electric vehicle, Togg, during his official visit to Pakistan on Thursday.
The T10X model Togg SUV was gifted to the Pakistani leader in Islamabad as part of Erdogan’s three-nation Asia tour. The two leaders engaged in discussions before posing for a photograph in front of the green-colored vehicle. The car’s distinctive hue is inspired by the lush Ayder highlands in Erdogan’s hometown of Rize, situated along Turkiye’s Black Sea coast.
In a symbolic gesture highlighting the strengthening ties between Turkiye and Pakistan, Erdogan joined Prime Minister Shehbaz in the passenger seat as the latter took the electric SUV for a brief drive. The moment, captured in an official photograph, underscored the deepening diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.
Pakistan marked the final stop of Erdogan’s Asia tour, following earlier visits to Malaysia and Indonesia. On Wednesday, the Turkish president presented a similar Togg vehicle to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Earlier in the week, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also received a Togg from Erdogan, demonstrating Turkiye’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships across Asia.
The Togg electric vehicle, Turkiye’s first domestically produced EV, represents the country’s growing advancements in the automotive and clean energy sectors. The symbolic gift serves as a testament to the robust diplomatic and economic cooperation between Turkiye and its key Asian partners.
