Washington, March 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Former US President Donald Trump has described Türkiye as “a good place” and commended President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as “a good leader” during a meeting with ambassadorial nominees at the White House on Tuesday.
During the session, each nominee introduced themselves and their designated countries. When Tom Barrack, the nominee for Türkiye, spoke about the country’s historical significance, he emphasized its rich civilization.
“Türkiye is one of the most ancient civilizations,” Barrack stated.
In response, Trump remarked, “Good place, good leader, too.”
Trump had previously announced Barrack’s nomination for the ambassadorship in December.
Meanwhile, President Erdogan expressed optimism about strengthening ties between Türkiye and the United States.
“I believe that we should and will achieve significant momentum in our relations despite all challenges, particularly the lobbies attempting to undermine cooperation between our countries,” Erdogan stated after a Cabinet meeting on Monday.
