Tehran, April 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, in a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation among regional countries to combat terrorism, Iranian media reported.
During the call, President Pezeshkian stated that recent developments have underscored the urgent necessity for greater regional collaboration to confront the “ominous phenomenon” of terrorism. He stressed the importance of dismantling the financial and weapons infrastructure of terrorist groups and called for regional countries to intensify their efforts toward establishing lasting peace, security, and stability.
Pezeshkian further expressed Iran’s readiness to assist in easing and resolving misunderstandings between Pakistan and India, highlighting Tehran’s commitment to promoting dialogue and reconciliation in the region.
For his part, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistan, like the Islamic Republic of Iran, prioritizes peace, stability, and enduring security in the region. He welcomed closer cooperation between the two countries in pursuit of these shared objectives.
The two leaders agreed to continue consultations on regional issues and to work towards strengthening bilateral ties.
