Moscow, April 28, 2025 — The Europe Today: Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the dispatch of several aircraft to assist in firefighting efforts at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port, following a devastating explosion that resulted in hundreds of casualties and extensive damage.
According to a statement issued by the Russian Embassy in Tehran on Sunday, emergency aircraft from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations are being deployed to support Iranian teams in containing the massive blaze at the strategic southern port.In a message published on the Kremlin’s official portal earlier today, President Putin extended his condolences to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and the Iranian people. He further stressed that Moscow stands ready to provide additional assistance to help mitigate the consequences of the tragic incident.
At least 28 people were confirmed dead, and over 800 were injured in the explosion that rocked Shahid Rajaee Port on Saturday. The cause of the blast remains unknown and is currently under investigation.
Authorities are continuing efforts to control the fire and assess the full scale of the damage.
