Bandar Seri Begawan, April 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah has urged officials and coaches of Brunei Darussalam’s contingent for the 6th Asian Beach Games, Sanya, China 2026, to prioritise the welfare, safety, and well-being of athletes throughout the competition.

The reminder, a key focus of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, was delivered during a national flag handover ceremony held at Bilik Simpur, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

In his address, Prince Sufri Bolkiah emphasized the importance of discipline among athletes and officials, urging them to strictly adhere to all regulations and guidelines set by the organisers. He also stressed the need to avoid prohibited substances and to fully comply with anti-doping rules enforced by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The Prince expressed confidence that the athletes would compete with integrity and sportsmanship, uphold the nation’s trust, and remain focused while demonstrating determination and resilience to bring honour to Brunei Darussalam.

Brunei is sending a small but focused contingent of eight members, including three male athletes and one female athlete, who will compete in Beach Athletics and Beach Teqball events.

Highlighting the significance of inclusivity, Prince Sufri Bolkiah noted that the participation of a female athlete reflects the country’s continued commitment to promoting women’s involvement in sports and ensuring gender balance in line with the council’s strategic development plans.
