Peking

Beijing, May 13, 2026 – The Europe Today:  Emomali Rahmon met with Gong Qihuang in Beijing on May 12 to discuss strengthening cooperation in science and education between Tajikistan and China.

The meeting focused on expanding collaboration between higher education institutions of the two countries and enhancing academic exchanges.

During the talks, it was noted that nearly 6,000 students from Tajikistan are currently pursuing studies at educational institutions in China.

Both sides expressed interest in encouraging more Tajik students to study science, engineering, information technology, digital economy and artificial intelligence at Chinese universities.

The participants also highlighted the successful work of the Confucius Centers and the Tajik-Chinese practical and vocational training center, the “Lu Ban Workshop,” in Tajikistan as notable examples of bilateral educational cooperation.

The discussions further covered prospects for expanding joint scientific research, continuing cooperation in the translation and publication of scientific, historical and cultural works, and increasing the number of educational scholarships available to Tajik citizens.
