Brussels, May 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: Tesla has received regulatory approval to conduct supervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) software testing on public roads in Belgium’s Flanders region, according to a recent LinkedIn post shared by EV Co.
The approval currently applies to a single vehicle, with testing expected to commence after the completion of vehicle registration and insurance formalities.
The development marks another incremental step in Tesla’s broader strategy to expand autonomous driving trials across European markets. The move is being viewed by industry observers as a sign of growing regulatory openness within the European Union toward supervised autonomous vehicle testing.
Analysts believe the approval could support Tesla’s long-term ambitions to strengthen software-driven revenue streams and reinforce its position in the advanced driver-assistance and autonomous mobility sector.
Although the current pilot programme remains limited in scale and is unlikely to have any immediate financial impact, the Belgian approval could establish an important regulatory precedent for future autonomous driving tests across other European countries.
Industry experts note that broader deployment of supervised FSD testing programmes would allow Tesla to enhance real-world data collection and validation for its autonomous systems, potentially strengthening its technological advantage over traditional automakers as well as emerging electric vehicle and autonomous driving competitors.
Tesla has continued to expand testing and deployment of its FSD technology globally as competition intensifies in the rapidly evolving autonomous mobility market.
