Azerbaijani President Shares Footage of Meeting With Residents of Shusha’s Boyuk Galaderesi Village

Baku, May 29, 2026 – The Europe Today: Footage of a meeting between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and residents of Boyuk Galaderesi village in the Shusha District has been shared on the president’s official social media pages.

During the meeting, President Aliyev spoke about the historical challenges faced by Azerbaijan and highlighted the role of the country’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev in stabilizing the nation during a critical period.

President Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan had faced a major crisis before Heydar Aliyev came to power, adding that significant steps toward development and strengthening the state were taken during that period.

Reflecting on the country’s efforts to restore control over its territories, the Azerbaijani president said that the nation had long awaited the day of liberation and worked continuously toward achieving it.

He also referred to the difficult geographical conditions in regions including Lachin District, Kalbajar District, Fuzuli District and Jabrayil District, noting the presence of extensive defensive lines and landmines.

President Aliyev praised Azerbaijani soldiers for their role during the 44-day conflict, stating that their sacrifices and determination enabled the country to overcome heavily fortified positions and ultimately compel Armenia to sign a ceasefire agreement.
